Solar Bollards light the Green Hills

The Background

The Sutherland Shire Council has been embellishing the beach-front housing estate of Green Hills. Situated between Cronulla and Kurnell the exclusive estate boasts a large Sporting Oval, Clubhouse, Amenity Blocks and other recreational provisions. The Council then wanted to provide some degree of illumination to approx 200 metres of sandy pathways leading to and from the beach.

In consultation with the community it had then been decided that bollard lights be favoured over pole top lighting. This is also consistent with Council Policy of minimising the effects of light spill and glare on adjoining residential properties.

The Solution

Solar G was commissioned to install a Bollard Lighting System that did not require cable feeds between the Bollards. The Bollards were to be free-standing and completely autonomous.

Solar G designed an integrated arrangement of a Recycled Plastic Posts  (Replas) along with an accompanied LED Solar Light Head (SBL). This had been and accepted by Council commissioning Solar G to proceed.

The Result

The twenty seven (27) Bollard units are now installed spaced at 8 metre centres. They provide good delineation of the paths and have met with positive feedback. Referred to as The Green Hill, the 3.2 Extra Low Voltage Bollards use the best of renewable components in an already sustainable environment. Each of the 0.55 watt Green Hill Bollards are to operate All Night.
